30 Hour Funding Eligibility

...

Book now for 30 hours of funding from September 2017

Currently all 3 and 4 year old’s are entitled to 570 hours of government-funded early year’s education per year, usually taken as 15 hours per week for 38 weeks (term-time). The Childcare Act 2016 increases this entitlement for working parents.

From September 2017, children of working parents will be entitled to an additional 570 hours per year, meaning that many families will be able to claim 1140 hours of funded childcare per year or 30 hours per week for 38 weeks.

We will be offering the 30 hours of funding during the following hours:

  • 5 funded hours between 8am-1pm
  • 5 funded hours between 1pm-6pm
  • 10 funded hours between 8am-6pm

Are you eligible for the 30 hours of funding?

Parents will need to make an application directly to HMRC and not through the Local Authority and you will be eligible if:

•             In two parent families both parents are working, in one parent families, the parent must be working.

•             Each parent earns, on average, a weekly minimum equivalent to 16 hours at National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage.

•             Each parent earns less than £100k per year, (£200k per household).

•             Eligible parents will receive a ‘code’ (referred to as a DERN code – DfE Eligibility Reference Number) which will be valid for a period of 3 months.  This code will need to be given to the nursery along with your child’s NHS number and date of birth.

•             Parents will need to reconfirm their code at the end of this 3 months.

•             Childcare providers will confirm/re-confirm validity periodically via an online checker

•             The date parents can start claiming the free childcare depends on the child’s birthday and when within a term the successful application was made.

•             The applications for eligibility will take place during the Summer term in readiness for September 2017.
